Long-time pro snowboarder, Jeremy Jones, has started a new snowboard company named, appropriately, Jones Snowboards.
Last year, he left his sponsor of 17 years, French ski and snowboard maker Rossignol, and soon after announced he was launching his own venture. The new boards, which are designed by Jones and manufactured by the Swiss board maker Nidecker, are now hitting stores and slopes in the United States.
“I have started Jones Snowboards to develop the highest performance all-mountain weapons on the market – freeride boards that reflect everything I’ve learned both on the snow and in the factory,” Jones, 34, says of the company. “Every snowboard we produce will be born of my passion and our designs will mirror the performance demands of my riding matched with the environmental demands of my conscience.”
A big mountain rider and environmental advocate, Jones has abandon gas-gulping helicopter-rides in recent years and switched to split boarding and climbing peaks to earn his powder. His inaugural board line reflects that ethic and Jone’s obsession with powder. Three of the four Jones models are distinctly powder and big mountain focused, including the swallow-tailed Hovercraft and The Solution, a split-board that allows you to cross-country ski to backcountry runs.
