REI offering wilderness first aid courses

NOLS Wilderness Medicine InstituteFor anyone who’s been meaning to take a wilderness first aid course, but couldn’t find anything nearby, REI’s just made it easier. Beginning in June, the outdoor gear retailer will team up with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) to offer wilderness first aid classes at stores around the country.

The courses will be taught by instructors from NOLS’s Wilderness Medicine Institute, a non-profit that has trained more than 80,000 people in wilderness medicine over the past two decades.  The classes will run you $200 if you’re an REI member or $220 for non members. Seems reasonable for some piece of mind. The locations, schedules and registration information are available on the REI blog.
