Feature film on climber who amputated own arm

127 Hours

Danny Boyle, the director of Trainspotting, The Beach and Slumdog Millionaire, is releasing a new film this fall, 127 Hours, that dramatizes the predicament of Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who made headlines in 2003 after amputating his own arm to free himself from entrapment by a boulder.

Ralson was mountaineering in Utah’s Blue John Canyon when a bolder dislodged and crushed his right forearm against the canyon wall. Five days later he amputated his lower arm with a dull knife. Uh…excuse me while I vomit.

Great story. Great director. Should be interesting…
